Actually it is not really a Tila. Adjacent to the eastern corner of Kihadhoo, there lay several bigger coral blocks at about 30 meters. Unless the currents are gentle, it is a dive for experienced divers only . Beautiful soft corals, bat fish, nudibranch and the occasional nurse shark, inhabit this area. Tunas are always on the lookout for some food, the fuslier …

An interesting narrow reef, which looks a little like an appendix. Normally a good site for Napoleon wrasses, tunas and a beautiful coral growth. We are still exploring this spot and it looks like that there is more to it than we thought. I once dived the connection from the Tila to the main reef and saw eagle and sting rays alike. Ideal for a two tank dive.

This particular reef lies between 22 to 34 meters. Although deep, one here is able to appreciate the natural beauty of soft and fan corals, which occupy the Northern edge and its inspiring overhangs. Due to strong currents a common site are sweet lips and groupers taking shelter in the reefs cavities, eagle rays patrolling the reef edge and the occasional gray & nurse shark. Due to the ever present currents and depth experienced divers only.

A narrow curved Tila connected to the main reef of the inhabited island of Daravandhoo. Its location makes this dive one of the easier ones, because the shelter offered by the main reef gives us the possibility to dive it in all conditions. The Tila’s top reaches 6 Mt. It offers shelter to an array of smaller creatures, such as leaf fish and ghost pipe fish and the sandy area on the east side is home to millions of sand eels. Honeycomb moray eels can be found on most dives and the top reef is home of many scorpion fish, sweet lip, blue striped snappers, it makes it a perfect area to spend your safety stop. Manta rays find several cleaning stations in the wet season.

Between the months of May and November this site plays the accommodating host to Manta rays being cleaned at several “cleaning stations”. At times we have uncounted large numbers of mantas and occasional whale sharks feeding along the reef or in the channel. The corner possesses a remarkable repertoire of aquatic life including snappers, sweet lips, fusiliers, banner fish and large sized napoleon wrasses. Through December until April the channel offers exciting encounters with eagle rays, tunas, jack fish and the occasional honey comb moray eel. During December until January strong currents makes for a challenging and at times difficult diving experience.

One of the few dives on the outer reef. After a quick descent to 30m watch a shoal of jacks and then glide through a field of fan corals. The ascent to the main reef can be tricky at times. Less experienced divers will find an interesting and colorful reef at the opposite end of the island, with small caves some with soft coral growth and home to the occasional sting ray or nurse shark.

Depending on the flowing of the current, you can start this dive from the East Side of the reef and see several Eagle rays dancing as water angels in the blue deep water and stingrays dwelling on the sandy bottom. You might choose also to start at the West End of the reef, which is covered with golden yellow soft corals, and look in the deep overhangs to see big lobsters and often a Nurse Shark or sting ray having his daily nap. In any case a very beautiful dive that you will finish spending your remaining air on the top of the reef – that reaches up to 4 Mt. – and that is house shy scorpion fishes, octopus, banner and bat fish.

The latest entry to Solenis dive portfolio. Though only recently dived by us, inquisitive green turtles have always been seen here. Adjacent to the reef lay two large coral heads, where in the wet season manta rays are regularly seen artistically patrolling. A colorful exhibition of glass fish, bat fish and an array of soft corals gives one the impression that the smaller blocks of corals, form a part of an underwater aquarium. For beginners and experienced divers alike a memorable dive is offered.

The splitting of the large coral block makes a sanctuary of perfect hideaways for small fish and nudibranches , who reside amongst its soft corals. This in turn makes it an enchanting aquatic dive for divers who don’t rush and like to take their time. An attractive overhang on this small reef receives the occasional visit from roaming sharks and manta rays.

This site makes an interesting and enjoyable dive due do its incredible reef formation. A canyon with its own chimney makes this site home to schools of different fusiliers and a hunting ground for tunas and giant trivially. Napoleon wrasses call this reef their home, one is particularly friendly. Eagle rays and Grey reef sharks can be seen at times and if the current is not too strong and you like to look for smaller creatures, you will be delighted to spend time here discovering. The attentive diver here will be able to find stone fishes, large numbers of big scorpion fish, zebra moray eels and many times a glimpse at a turtle having her meal…

This long and narrow reef provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy drift diving. Large shoals of fish inhabit the area. Ghost pipe fish, leaf fish and stone fish take shelter on the colorful top reef and overhangs. The wet season provides manta rays their choice of various cleaning stations the reef has to offer. Three inspiring overlying overhangs are situated on the East tip of the reef.
Sadly, the number of sharks that used to dwell here have declined, we are not sure if the problem lies within heavy fishing, a large increase of tourism diving and snorkeling or coral structure or most likely, a combination of them all. Sharks have been spotted again… The sharks fishing ban, education and professional diving may bring the numbers back to what they were. Happily we can report that the site itself remains intriguing and impressive as ever, the wall teaming with soft corals alive with fish including occasionally frog fish. The hard corals are amazing, specially in the shallow
