COMO Cocoa Island is located in the Maldives’ South Malé atoll. Diving is some of the best in the world with two private house reefs. Rooms are inspired by local dhoni boats in bleached wood with kajan roofs. The COMO Shambhala Retreat is dedicated to renewing body and soul.

Among Maldives beach resorts, these eight split-level suites stand out for the generous indoor seating area with a Balinese day-bed, large bathroom and private terrace allowing for easy access to the lagoon’s warm waters. Light floods in, the ‘dhoni’-style boat design—the suite doesn’t float but is rather fixed to the lagoon—making you feel as if it’s just you and the sea.
The best resorts in the Maldives can’t match our Dhoni Loft Suites’ quirky design. These nine rooms work very well for families because of an expansive downstairs living area (which doubles up as a sleeping area for children) and then the master bedroom on a mezzanine level, just beneath the rafters. Again the terrace has steps straight into the lagoon.
With private sundecks and full-length windows overlooking the Indian Ocean, these Maldives villas bring the outside in. A dramatically elevated loft sequesters a king-sized bed while downstairs on the main level a large and airy sitting area doubles up as a sleeping area for kids. The main bathroom features a double vanity, seperate bath and shower, and a secluded outdoor shower with steps into the sea.
The largest of COMO Cocoa Island, Maldives' over water villas, these four light-filled bungalows, all of which sit on their own secluded jetty, feature three private al fresco areas: an outdoor shower, a balcony with a daybed, and off the sitting area, which converts into a kid-friendly sleeping area, there’s a sun terrace fitted with a table and pair of loungers.
Of the 33 suites and villas at our Maldives beach resort, COMO Cocoa Island's two COMO Villas—Sunset and Sunrise—offer the most unique guest experience. Approached by a private jetty, each villa is arranged with two wings, each with a bedroom (one king, one twin), ensuite bathroom, outdoor shower and private terrace. These wings are connected by living and dining areas with balconies on either side, which allows for step-off-the-deck access to the lagoon.
This new overwater villa features a large terrace with a 10-metre private swimming pool, offering some of the island’s best views of the iconic Maldivian sunset. The villa was designed with space in mind: there’s a living room, an en suite master bedroom, a private study and a gym. The villa can be connected to the COMO Sunset Water Villa via an overwater wooden walkway, or closed off for complete privacy.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with flexible dining to suit guests’ preferences. Cuisine features European dishes in addition to a blend of Indian and Mediterranean traditions with an emphasis on locally caught seafood, fresh produce and COMO Shambhala healthful eating options.
Faru Bar is an easy-going, foot-in-the-sand resort bar where our inventive bartenders put together refreshing cocktails (and mocktails). Fine wines, classic cigars and light snacks also feature, alongside some easy beats at sunset. Faru Bar is open from 10am until late, adjacent to the infinity pool and leading directly to the beach.
COMO Cocoa Island offers a range of dining options at both our open-sided Ufaa restaurant and our foot-in-the-sand Faru Bar. For those who want a little extra privacy - whether a romantic meal for two or an intimate gathering with friends and family - our private dining experiences provide the seclusion you're looking for, in dramatic spots around the island.
COMO Shambhala Cuisine is a unique nutritional concept that incorporates organic ingredients rich in living enzymes, vitamins and sea minerals while still delivering on flavor. Food is raw, steamed or grilled for maximum health benefits. Chefs also make ample use of the tandoor, a type of Indian oven that allows for the fat-free cooking of meats and fish whilst introducing a wonderful charcoal flavor. COMO Shambhala Cuisine is served at Ufaa and is also available via in-room dining.
In-room dining at COMO Cocoa Island includes salads, pastas and refreshing juices and is available from 7am until 11pm daily.
COMO Shambhala Retreat at COMO Cocoa Island in the Maldives is the embodiment of our philosophy for healthy living, combined with a deeply relaxing stay at a private island resort. We draw our inspiration from our surroundings, with treatment pavilions that combine natural wood, traditional Maldivian coral walls and Kajan thatched roofs. Our three single treatment rooms have commanding views of the turquoise lagoon, while our couple’s pavilion overlooks tropical foliage.
We offer Asian-based therapies, nutrition, exercise and yoga with a results-driven agenda. Ayurveda here is very popular, with a clear link between the resort’s location in the Maldives, and nearby Southern India, where this holistic wellness tradition developed some 5,000 years ago. We also have one of the only hydrotherapy pools in the Maldives, where guests can relax in the heated water, with purpose-built high pressure jets to target different areas of the body.
Located at Maldives’ South Malé Atoll, COMO Cocoa Island enjoys a marine-rich lagoon full of pristine dive sites, such as the dramatic Kandooma Caves and the ever popular shark cleaning station at Cocoa Thila. Divers will discover reefs and overhangs teeming with marine life, including green turtles, reef sharks, bigeye trevally and many other colourful reef fish. Dive trip experiences may be enhanced by bringing along our resident marine biologist.
