Maldives' president, Mr. Ibrahim Solih announced today that the Island Nation will finally be lifting restrictions implemented on it's Borders since late March 2020; re-opening it's borders to visitors from 15 July 2020, almost 110 days after it was closed to fight the covid-19 global pandemic.
This was an announcement which several Tourism businesses have been waiting for the past couple of weeks and was well received by local travel agents, hoteliers and several foreign travel companies alike.
Below are the highlights of the Entry requirements announced today
- Maldives will provide Free 30 Day Tourist Visa on Arrival.
- Tourists will be allowed to visit Maldives without any form of Quarantine upon Arrival.
- All Nationalities will be allowed to travel to Maldives.
- Travelers are required to submit a health declaration card upon Arrival.
- Tourists will NOT be required to submit a health certificate for entry to the Maldives.
- Travelers with symptoms of COVID-19 will be subjected to a PCR test upon arrival.
- Additionally, local Health Authorities will conduct random testing at the Airport.
- Resorts Live aboards and Hotels located on Uninhabited islands will be allowed to re-open from 15 Jul 2020
- Guest Houses and Hotels located inhabited Islands will be allowed to re-open from 01 Aug 2020 onwards
- COVID-19 testing is available for travelers who require it to continue on their onward journey
Majority of the 150 + Resorts who are currently operational will remain closed for a extended period, and restart opening from 15 July onward and continue through 01 October 2020 when almost all the hotels will be re-opened for business.
